Amazing Mt. Pleasant Information

Located just across the Cooper River from Charleston, the historic town of Mt. Pleasant was founded in 1680.

Snee Farm was the rural home of Charles Pinckney, one of the framers of the United States Constitution. The Charles Pinckney National Historic Site in offers a close-up view of his role in the shaping of a country.

Built in 1854, the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Hibben and Church streets served as a Confederate hospital during the Civil War.

Mt. Pleasant is the home of Patriots Point, the world’s largest naval and maritime museum complex.

Scenes from Boone Hall Plantation can be seen in movies such as North and South, Queen, and even Gone with the Wind.

Just beyond Mt. Pleasant on Highway 17 North, this center showcases the unique heritage and natural history of South Carolina’s Lowcountry. Jointly operated by the U.S.D.A. Forest Service and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the facility exhibits hands-on displays on the ecosystems of the Cape Romain Refuge and the Francis Marion Forest. It also features a live birds of prey area and a red wolf education area. The Sewee Visitor Center is open Tuesday - Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
