Palmetto Islands County Park is a 943-acre park with a Nature Island, the seasonal Splash Island Waterpark, bicycle and pedal boat rentals, an off-leash area and agility course for dogs, picnic sites, tidal creek fishing and crabbing, paved and nature trails, and more.

James Island County Park

James Island is home to a 643-acre park favored by dog owners from all over the Charleston area for its expansive off-leash area, plus the seasonal Splash Zone Waterpark; a climbing wall; bicycle, kayak and pedal boat rentals; picnic areas; miles of paved trails; saltwater fishing and crabbing; concerts and events; and more.

North Charleston Wannamaker County Park

"Nature-oriented" Wannamaker County Park is a 1,015-acre site that contains two miles of paved trails; bicycle, kayak and pedal boat rentals; Whirlin' Waters Adventure Waterpark; picnic sites complete with grills; an off-leash dog park; two playgrounds; a seasonal sprinkler area; and a park center with a snack bar, restrooms and a shaded porch.

Folly Beach County Park offers areas for dressing, picnicking, showering and snacking, plus seasonal lifeguards and beach chair and umbrella rentals.

Edwin S. Taylor Folly Beach Fishing Pier

The 1,045-foot-long Edwin S. Taylor pier, the second-longest pier on the East Coast, has frequent fishing tournaments, a full-service restaurant (Locklear's Beach City Grill), fishing rod rentals, an on-site tackle shop and more.

Isle of Palms County Park

Isle of Palms County Park is an oceanfront park with seasonal lifeguards and beach chair and umbrella rentals, a designated swimming area, a children's play area, outdoor showers, a sand volleyball court, boardwalks and more.

Ravenel Caw Caw Interpretive Center

Caw Caw, a historical park located on land that once housed rice plantations, has more than six miles of trails (with -interpretive exhibits), elevated boardwalks in the wetlands, and wildlife areas that include habitats for alligators, bald eagles and other rare species.


Kiawah Beachwalker Park

Beachwalker Park, Kiawah Island's only public beach area, has seasonal lifeguards, snack bar, beach chair and umbrella rentals, a picnic area with grills, outdoor showers, plenty of boardwalks and more.

Mullet Hall Equestrian Center at Johns Island County Park

Mullet Hall is a 738-acre site that hosts horse shows and festivals and contains more than 20 miles of rider-friendly trails, horse-washing stations, jumps and more (although they do not offer riding lessons, rentals or boarding).
